Details for Training Providers
WABC Accredited® is the first international designation specifically for business coach training providers. It tells the world that your training program is credible, reliable and relevant, and that it meets the rigorous standards set by the Worldwide Association of Business Coaches.

Purpose
The WABC Accredited designation aims to:

  • Set international standards for business coach training providers, and clearly identify these standards for buyers of business coach training;
  • Provide an independent, robust, transparent assessment process that recognizes excellence in training;
  • Promote high-caliber professional development for the benefit of business coaches; and
  • Contribute to the definition, development and self-regulation of the business coaching profession.

Benefits
If you train business coaches, there are four reasons why you should become WABC Accredited.

1. Position Yourself in the Field
WABC Accredited is the first international designation developed exclusively for business coach training programs. This specialized designation will set your program apart from the many that recognize coach training in general.

2. Gain Independent, Professional Recognition
Your program will be thoroughly evaluated by independent, professional assessors. They apply the same rigorous standards to all training providers and programs, regardless of size, location or reputation.

3. Advertise Your Excellence
Once you become WABC Accredited, you can use the designation in your marketing and training materials and can associate it with your program and organization.

4. Enhance Your Training Program
Applying for WABC Accredited is a learning experience that involves real dialogue with experienced assessors. Their feedback can help you fine-tune your business coach training.

Levels
WABC Accredited is awarded at two levels: Practitioner and Master. Both levels of award warrant that the training program has met or exceeded WABC’s strict international standards and has successfully passed through a rigorous assessment.

WABC Accredited (Practitioner Level)WABC Accredited (Practitioner Level)
This level is for programs that aim to develop practitioner coaches. Practitioner coaches may be internal coaches who practice within one organization. They may also be external coaches who provide limited services to a narrow client base, usually to a fixed agenda related directly to business outcomes.

Practitioner Level is the first training level WABC will consider for accreditation. It is seen as equivalent to the level of a post-graduate certificate in business coaching.

WABC Accredited (Master Level)WABC Accredited (Master Level)
This level is for programs that aim to develop master coaches. Master coaches are typically qualified to provide services across a range of organizations. They are equipped to operate at all levels of an organization and to deal with the ambiguity of an open coaching agenda.

Master Level is the advanced training level for WABC accreditation. It is seen as equivalent to the level of a master’s degree in business coaching.

Standards
WABC Accredited is a rigorous designation based on defined standards. Some highlights follow.

Evidence-Based Designation
WABC Accredited is the product of years of development, evidence gathering and other research. The process included creating a definition of business coaching and identifying the competencies of real-life business coaches. It also included collaborating with top business coaches, educators and the renowned Professional Development Foundation (PDF) in the United Kingdom. The WABC Accredited designation is reviewed annually to ensure that it stays credible, reliable and relevant.

Independent, Professional Assessment
Assessments and award decisions must be fair, transparent and independent. WABC has therefore contracted PDF to conduct the entire assessment and award panel process, including selecting the individuals involved. WABC officially issues the designation, but in doing so abides by the recommendations of the award panel.

Re-Accreditation
WABC Accredited training providers must have their status reviewed and re-assessed. Holders of the designation report every year to confirm that they still meet the required standards. Every five years they submit a detailed report that provides evidence of their compliance. If accepted, this five-year report provides for their re-accreditation.

Eligibility
You can apply for WABC Accredited if you fall into one of these categories:

  • You are a training provider. You believe your program can meet WABC’s assessment criteria. Your program has run to completion at least once so that feedback from graduates is available.
  • You are a corporation with an established internal training program. You believe your program can meet WABC’s assessment criteria. Your program has produced graduates so that feedback on the program is available.
