2010-12 International Professional Standards Task Force
In May 2010 we announced our new international professional standards project. Having a set of professional standards for business coaching will define—for us as coaches, for our clients and for the public—the essence of our practice. Standards will educate others about what we do, will help clients understand what they can expect from us and will further distinguish business coaching from other types of coaching. Professional standards will crystallize, in a single document, what business coaching is, and what it isn't. The driving force behind this exercise was an international task force, and we're thrilled to introduce you to our group chosen for this project (see below).
On June 29, 2011, we published the first-ever WABC Professional Standards for Business Coaches. These standards are available to WABC members as a guidance document for one year from the date of publication. Then the standards will again be reviewed by the task force, and a decision will be made to officially adopt them as WABC's professional standards. During the one-year period, WABC will develop a procedure for overseeing the standards and members' adherence to them.
